ABOUT ANTIBODY TESTS
Antibody tests are used to detect antibodies to the Covid-19 virus to see if you have had the virus in the past. The test works by taking a sample of your blood and testing for the presence of antibodies to see if you have developed an immune response from being exposed to the virus. It is only recently that reliable tests for the presence of antibodies have been made available here. The gold standard is the PHE approved, FDA EUA approved reagents we use, millions of which are being used around the world in the frontline for detecting the spread of SARS-Cov-2 coronavirus through our communities
There is no strong evidence yet to suggest that those who have had the virus develop long-lasting immunity which would prevent them from getting the virus again.
Antibody tests differ to virus swab (PCR) tests, which test to see if you currently have the virus.
HOW OUR TEST WORKS?
A simple 3 step process - Blood test results will be interpreted after 10-15 minutes
Take a finger prick sample of blood
Detects lgM & lgG anti-SARS-CoV-2 in 10 minutes
Test for these two antibodies in the blood –
IgM is what we show when we are in the acute stage of the virus
IgG is what you show when you have been exposed to the virus in the past
Whole blood specimen allows testing at point-of-care,
saving crucial time
Conducted only by a qualified clinician
Overall igG accuracy
Making it one of the most effective screening tests for detection of COVID-19 antibodies
